Islands of Southwest Florida

There are five main islands in Southwest Florida.

Boca Grande also known as Gasparilla Island is the most northerly. South of Gasparilla is North Captiva, separated from Captiva Island by Redfish Pass and only accessible by boat or plane.

Captiva Island, trendy and tropical and sanctuary Sanibel Island, known as the Seashell Islands, are linked to the mainland by a five mile causeway.

Estero Island, also known as Fort Myers Beach is a long skinny strip beginning at Fort Myers and ending at Bonita Beach.

The most southerly island right at the edge of the Everglades is Marco Island.
